Former Real Madrid and AC Milan superstar Clarence Seedorf has been named new Cameroon Indomitable Lions manager with compatriot Patrick Kluivert as his second in command.

According to a UK Sun report, the current African Cup of Nations holders were looking forward to bring in ex-England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson before talks hit the rocks at the closing moment.

The report further revealed that the 42-year-old ex-Real Madrid and AC Milan star will be at the helms of affairs when Cameroon defend their Africa Cup of Nations tittle on home ground as host of the 2019 edition.

Eggheads Cameroon FA are yet to make official the duration of Seedorf and Kluviert’s contracts.

At the last count, Seedorf has managed three clubs at AC Milan, Shenzhen and Deportivo La Coruna as manager in his young career as a football tactician.

However, the veteran midfielder has spent less than six months at every club in his career as he battled to leave a mark.

Seedorf earned 87-appreances for Holland’s Oranje Boys and a combined 875 games during his football career across Ajax, Sampdoria, Real, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Botafogo spanning over two decades.

During his active days Seedorf claimed two Eredivisie titles, silverware in Spanish La Liga, two Serie A gongs as well as four Champions League winners’ medals.

However, since switching to management Seedorf has struggled to replicate what he achieved as a player with a mere 32.6 per cent win rate.

“Patrick Kluivert will serve as Cameroon as assistant under Clarence Seedorf.”

In his last job at the Spanish topflight, Seedorf won just twice in his 16 matches as manager as Deportivo were relegated to the second-tier league in May.
